What's a good educational TV program for kids who graduate from Sesame Street?
My daughter is not quite four, but she knows her letters and numbers, and I'm not sure she's learning much from Sesame Street anymore. She doesn't enjoy it as much as she used to. What's a good educational show for the next level of learning?
My favorite educational shows that help with reading are The Electric Company (available on DVD) and Between the Lions.
Both help support the next level of learning.
(Nothing against the others, my girls love them all, but as far as strictly educational, I think these are more the next step from Sesame Street.)
My 4 and 6 year olds also love Magic School Bus, which has given them an introduction to basic Science information, Go Diego Go, which I feel has helped their understanding of animal life and the ecosystem, Cyberchase (this is an advanced math program, geared towards older kids, but my 4 year old watches with her sister and loves it), Word Girl, which is a vocab builder as well. The last two really are meant for older children more though.
Tiny Planets is a great show too, they teach problem solving and cause/effect. (Also DVD)
For social skills and fun, I like Little Bill and Oswald.
Another of my girls' favorites are the Animated Heroes DVD Series, they love the Alexander Graham Bell story as well as Helen Keller.
I like the LeapFrog DVD's (Letter Factory, Word Factory, Math Circus, Code Word Caper, and Storybook Factory) to help support advanced phonics and beginning math skills.
And, as the other answerer said, Veggie Tales!
